Nowadays flats and home are built quite small, which includes a tiny bathroom, unlike our parents or grandparents used to have. No matter the size, we have to make do with it and get the most out of it. Some people are more creative than others, so some bathrooms will look better and have more space than others.
This is why one of the top priorities when you move in your small home is to improve upon the tiny space you are given. An important aspect of it is flexibility. You need to have as end result a well designed bath area and you have to remember that you will be the designer of your space. However it will not come very cheap as you have to get yourself that extra space that you currently don’t really have.
First of all you need to consider where the room will be located. It should be in an area that is not as frequented as others. You could, for example, turn the garage into it if you are not using it. Besides finding the best location for your bath area, you should think of how much money you want to spend – or have to spend – in a custom made one which can be installed practically anywhere you choose to. Of course, if the bath room is already done when you move it, there is little you can do about this aspect. But if you are the master that creates your own toilet room, you need to buy an equipment that is quite flexible and movable anywhere you choose.
No matter how you go about it, you should never forget the final result that you want to get out of your endeavours: making the most of a small place and enlarging it as much as possible. Finally once the room is setup, it is important to think of safety and appeal.

The tiles you choose to floor your bathroom makes a great difference to the overall appearance of the room. Tiles can make a bathroom appear smaller or larger than it really is. There are many small bathroom tile ideas which can make your bathroom look big and attractive.
The first thing to keep in mind while tiling a bathroom is to choose tiles that are resistant to moisture. You have several choices in this regard. You can choose ceramic tiles or glass tiles which have a super cool look or you can choose mosaic tiles. The choice depends on your taste and budget.
Dark colored tiles can make an already small bathroom appear smaller. Good small bathroom tile ideas include using light colored tiles. That does not mean that you have to use only white tiles. Beige and pastel shades will also work fine. The advantage of light colored flooring is that it reflects light and makes the room appear spacious.
If you decide to use white tiles, you can add some color by incorporating colored tiles at random in between the white ones or you can use the colored tiles to make a border. This will keep your bathroom from looking dull. You can use colored tiles of a single color or several colors according to your imagination. Tiles with patterns can also be used in between plain colored tiles or as borders.
Mosaic tiles also make good flooring for small bathrooms. Mosaic tiles in several light colors or in a combination of light and bright colors can be used. Choose depending on the theme and overall decor of your bathroom.
Another important aspect of tiling small bathrooms is tiling the shower or bath area differently. The tiles in the shower area should match the tiles in the rest of the bathroom. The tiles in the shower area can be of a different color or pattern from that of the rest of the bathroom. Otherwise you can use the same tiles but lay them out in a different arrangement. The idea is to demarcate the bath area without being too obvious.
These small bathroom tile ideas should help make your bathroom a small retreat instead of a cramped and dull space.

Do you have a small bathroom to remodel?
Would you like to have a gleaming new bathroom but you’re afraid that your tiny toilet just isn’t big enough to turn into the ceramic heaven that you want?
Get to know your bathroom and spend time designing your new one
Before you write off the idea completely why not sit down with a few sheets of square graph paper and try out a few different ideas. Measure your bathroom accurately then draw it to scale on square paper so that you can see exactly where everything is.
When you’ve got an accurate drawing of your bathroom as it is now it’s time to start dreaming about the bathroom that you would like to have. Put your current bathroom drawing aside and get a blank piece of graph paper. Draw the outline of your bathroom on this sheet of graph paper. Now take another piece of paper and draw accurate scale drawings of the things that you want to get into your new bathroom.
Cut out the shapes that you’ve drawn and try to arrange them on the outline of your bathroom. Because you only have a small bathroom you might need to be creative, especially if you want to get more into your new bathroom than you had in your old one.
An example of a small bathroom remodeling project
I recently remodeled my own small bathroom to make it more inviting and to add a shower cubicle to the room so that we didn’t have to shower in the bath. The remodeling ideas all started when I dropped something into the bath tub and cracked it. I wasn’t popular for doing that and I wasn’t looking forward to the project but I love it to bits now it’s done. You can read all about how I did it in the article Idea for Remodeling a Small Bathroom.
Ideas to help solve the small bathroom problem
Put a radiator high on the wall
If you have a radiator taking up wall space consider putting it higher up. This could free up space for a sink or toilet.
Place the bathtub in the middle of the room
If you are limited in where you can put the bathtub by pipework and uneven walls then think about putting it in the middle of the room away from all the walls. This doesn’t work all the time but it might be an option for you.
Redesign the layout of the bathroom
Use your squared paper and cut-outs to test different layouts. It’s amazing how many ideas it can give you.
Use a shaped shower cubicle
You can save space by using a shower cubicle with curved sides in place of a square one. It will probably cost a little more but if space is a premium then it could be worth it.
Install a sliding door
A door that doesn’t need space in the room to open can give you more options.
Use wall mirrors
Mirrors can only give the impression of space but they are very effective at doing just that.
Install storage cupboards
Providing plenty of storage space up high means that the floor won’t get cluttered with cosmetics, towels and cleaning materials.
I hope that you can see that even a small bathroom can be transformed into a dream if it’s designed and planned well. Remember to take a look at how I remodeled my tiny little bathroom and added a shower cubicle while I was at it.

I have a very tiny apartment. My livingroom and kitchen are only separated by a short kitchen counter. Here are the problems:
1) the carpet is dark blue. the biggest length of wall in the livingroom is this horrid grey panneling. The other side is white. I can’t paint or put anything too permanent on the walls.
2) The door is grey and solid on the inside. It looks more like a gas station bathroom door than the inside of a home.
3) I only have on window in my livingroom and one window in my bedroom on the opposite end of the apartment.
4) my kitchen and livingroom are basically one big room, with just a counter to separate them.
5) my kitchen is "U" shaped and barely big enough for one person to stand in and cook. My stove is even half the size of a normal stove.
6) my bathroom is very small and has white/gry linolium flooring. The walls are white. There is a tub/shower, a toilet and a sink. No cabinets or anything other than a small medicine cabinet.

I know nothing about average utility cost. I went and looked at a 500 square foot apartment that is bascially one main room, a walk in closet, a separate kitchen and a separate bathroom. Anybody have any idea how much it would cost to heat using electric or gas? I live in KC so the wintertime temps can be anywhere from like 15-40 degrees f. Probably would run it 12 hours a day. Thanks. I can provide more info if needed.

It’d be best if you could read through the whole thing but it’s okay if you skim.
I’m in 9th grade & my parents are stricter than most. A lot of my friends can do what they want but I usually confirm with them first. Most girls wear bikinis now, some revealing even to me. I just want to wear a basic one that isn’t incredibly conservative OR over-exposing.
The last time I wore a bikini was when I was about 4 since I started swimming after that. I wore a regular one-piece since they are best for serious swimming. However, I quit since last year I didn’t enjoy it & have already made compromises to join other teams. All I have now is that same plain old swimsuit.
I want a new one but my mom shops for more regular clothing with me. I can’t just tell her that I want to go to the mall alone. She’s just not that kinda parent that would let me do that. I can’t even tell her I’d like to. I could go with my friends but they aren’t the type that would shop for swimsuits TOGETHER. They go individually.
So I’d like to go individually but there’s no way to go without my parents finding out. They haven’t actually said I couldn’t buy a bikini. It’s just that knowing them, they’d wonder why I’d even ask. I realize they were once my age & they would understand but they don’t. See they’re not from the U.S. I can’t just tell them it’s a trend either because they’d wonder since when did I ever care about that stuff.
I’m a really hard worker & very stubborn. This means I’d try even if I sound totally lame to you. I also get good grades & feel that hey I earned it, I should be able to do what I want once in a while. I set my own standards, for example the whole over-revealing thing. So what would you do in my situation? Would you just go to VS when you’re with your friends? It would be awkward in my case.
Or I could convince my mom to let me have a certain bikini at a store like Macy’s or something. Yes, I really want one this bad to go through whatevers. I thought it all out even though it’s not even that well thought out (that’s why I’m asking YOU). My excuses would be that the one-piece granny suit is too small & hurts my shoulders since it’s tight (truth) & I really like the color of the specific suit I come across with her (maybe truth).
The closest I ever came to buying a bikini was at the mall with my mom & sister. My mom went shopping in a different department so my sister & I decided to play dress-up, like take pics in the stall mirrors. For one I did mermaid. I got a swimsuit top & this long skirt. After I called my mom & told my sister she was in the shoe department, so go there. I’d meet back with them after taking the top & skirt off. She wanted to wait with me (9 years old). The problem is that I planned to buy it when she went & put it in my bag so my mom wouldn’t see. Don’t worry, I had a gift card. My sister asked, "If you were older, would you buy that?" I said, "Yeah, I like the design". Bleh…
So those are the things I’d do. Maybe say I’m off to use the bathroom when with friends but go to a different store & buy a swimsuit instead. But they’d probably come with me… so any suggestions? I’d also do the laundry myself. Sorry this was so long. I feel really lame now hahas. Respectful answers please, thank you

I dyed my hair black in a small bathroom, with white walls. Not my brightest idea. Some got on the wall. I wiped it off when i noticed but there’s still a light purple streak. How do i get it off? Ive tried bleach, whitening tooth paste & mouthwash and nothing will work. I also got a little on the wooden door. Don’t know how to get that off cause the bleach will make the color come out. And should just body wash get it off my skin? Please help! My dads gonna be really mad.

Hi there. I have a 100 m2 house and i want to transform it into a small guest house with approx 4-5 rooms. Each one will have a small bathroom and kitchen. I’m thinking of something luxurious because this house is built inside a 3000 m2 field and you have many thing to do (tennis, horse ridding etc). I was thinking that something like that would be great because people there will be able to relax, do outdoor activities and have fun. I would like you share with me some ideas and tell me what you think.
I must also inform you that this house is 30 km away from the city center of Athens and 2 km away from the nearest city.
I appreciate all of your answers in advance!!
Thank you!

I am 16 weeks pregnant with our first baby and, due to the small size of our home, my husband and I have decided to move our bedroom down to the basement and make a "master suite" down there (there’s a full bathroom and we’ve converted a room into a walk-in closet). I need to paint the bathroom to eliminate the chances for mold and to make cleaning easier (the paint that’s there is just primer) but I’m horrible at choosing paint colors. Our bathroom upstairs is chocolate brown (a surprisingly bold choice for me) and coordinates with a bamboo theme (bronzes, greens, and browns) and I love it. I’d like a similar bold choice, something that is pleasing to the eye and sophisticated but not jarring to look at. For some reason I’m thinking of a soothing, creamy green color (more of a browny green than a yellow green) but when I am in the paint store with all the colors in front of me, I get overwhelmed. I’d love to get the opinions of people with an eye for color. It doesn’t have to be green, I’m open to suggestions. Please include the color name and brand, if you can, so I can look it up online. Thanks in advance for your help…I’m so hopeless when it comes to decorating! (Next up, I have to decide what color the nursery is going to be…argh!!)
